Learning should be fun and have a purpose
I think learning should be fun and should have a purpose. I really want to help my students improve and move forward with their English while they enjoy themselves. One way to do that with beginners is with cartoons that have no or very little talking. With videos like those on this blog, my students will make their own very simple stories in class to explain what they understand in the videos. Through my help, they will learn to say and understand vocabulary, phrases, and sentences to express themselves in a basic way, laying the foundation for further English studies.
New blog for my ESL class for beginners
I will be starting a new night class for ESL beginners in September 2010 and I am looking for videos to use in class to stimulate conversation. I think silent videos can be a great help to people learning English as a Second Language.
I will help the students to tell very simple stories about what they see in the video clips.
So far I have found some early material from Stan Laurel (from before his days with Laurel and Hardy), Charlie Chaplin, and the animated Pink Panther first season from 1969. Have any other ideas? Leave a suggestion in the comments!
